The Problem We Solved

Before RentEra, staff work and property administration lived in separate, disconnected tools — one for payroll, another for rent collection, spreadsheets for everything else. There was no way to verify a maintenance visit actually happened at the property, no shared view of a lease across a manager and an admin, and no single place for admins to run rent rolls, financials, and staff payouts alongside day-to-day operations.

The Complexity — Field Work and Back-Office in One App

A single app has to serve two very different jobs: a field staff member starting a geofenced work session at a tenant's home, and an admin approving a lease template, reviewing financials, or granting another admin access. Maintenance visits need location-verified, hourly-paid work sessions; vendor work needs bill uploads and assignment; and the admin side needs full RBAC so a manager sees only their properties while an admin sees the whole portfolio.

The Solution — One Flutter App, Role-Based From Staff to Admin

We built a single Flutter app for Android and iOS on a Node.js, Express, and TypeScript backend. Location services verify a staff member is within 200m of a property before a work session — and its hourly payout — can start. The same app surfaces admin-level property, lease, and financial management behind role-based access control, so a staff member, a manager, and an admin all work from one codebase without seeing more than their role allows.

How We Made It Simple

One app, but every role only sees its own slice: a staff member sees today's jobs and a clock, a manager sees their properties, and an admin sees the whole portfolio. Geofencing and lease templates remove manual verification and drafting work, so the app does the checking and the paperwork in the background.
