City drivers face a daily gamble: decode confusing parking signs, guess if rules apply right now, and hope they don't return to a ticket. Existing map apps show zones but don't read the actual sign in front of you. ParkClear needed to turn a photo into a clear yes-or-no answer — fast enough to use while double-parked.
The Complexity — Reading Signs With AI on Device
Parking signs mix text, symbols, time restrictions, and exceptions — different in every city. Building an ML pipeline that interprets signs accurately in LA, NYC, and San Francisco, returns results in seconds, and works reliably on both Flutter iOS and Android with Firebase backend integration.
